Innovation As a user, I mainly have positive experiences with Uber. The app is easy to use, and one can see the route and the price of the trip before one even gets in the car. In addition, the app shows the car’s license plate number and the driver's data, with reviews from previous clients. Personally, I like this better than the classic taxi, where I have been scammed several times by drivers who drive inefficient routes or even drive in circles to earn as much money as possible. Plus, Uber is cheaper, and I do not need to deal with cash, so why should I get a traditional taxi at all? For drivers, Uber also offers several benefits. One of them is the opportunity for drivers to be their own boss: they can decide when and how long to work. This benefit has been one of the causes of rapid growth in the early years of the company, with the number of Uber drivers growing from almost none to nearly 160,000 between 2012 and 2014 (Hall, 2015). Yet, the driver-related aspect of Uber is the leading cause of all the controversy over the years. This controversy can be traced back to 2014 and the service called UberPop. 49
