The product melamine is a chemical substance, a white crystalline powder. Most melamine is used in the wood-processing industry to produce wood panels, laminates and furniture. It is also used in thermoset plastics, flame retardant flexible foams and coatings, paper, textiles, concrete and many other products. People now use the word “melamine” as a synonym for various end products, for example kitchen worktops, HDF or its decorative surface.
