DACE is organizing the 2022 ICEC World Congress in Rotterdam on June 12-15. ICEC stands for the International Cost Engineering Council (www.ICostE.org), a non-profit organization that brings together more than 300.000 Cost Engineers from more than 40 countries. Cost Engineering includes, estimating, project controls, planning/ scheduling, procurement, contract management, quantity surveying, value management etc. The theme of the World Congress is Predictable Projects in a Dynamic World. We live in a dynamic World, full of Technological Innovations, Environmental Challenges, Political and Economic Developments. Despite these dynamics our Customers (Project Managers, Directors, Principals, Governments and Investors) require us to make accurate and timely estimates, forecasts and schedules from the Feasibility Phase till Decommissioning. We (the Cost, Value, Controls, QS professionals) need to rise to this challenge. The Congress aims to bring together our Customers, Suppliers, Academic Research and us in order to Share Knowledge, to Inspire and Develop Predictability in Projects. This means we are primarily looking for contributions from Researchers, Customers, Professionals and Suppliers related to Predictable Projects in a Dynamic World. We started of traditionally with a conference in de Doelen (a congress centre in Rotterdam https://www.dedoelen.nl/en/), but then came COVID-19. The safe choice is to go for a virtual congress, but we would like to aim for a hybrid form, even though that is a grassroots area or unchartered territory where no one has gone before. How can you contribute? We are looking for: Research papers and a presentation with respect to the theme of the Congress with a focus on predictability, innovations, environmental challenges and/or political & economic developments; Workshops for max 20 people per workshop; Presentations from Customers showing developments in their thinking, requirements and needs, e.g. procurement strategies, political pricing, etc. Presentations about (potential) Projects responding to the Dynamic World, e.g. wind farms, coastal defenses, draught prevention, Silk Road, sustainable buildings, etc. Presentations reflecting experience with the theme from Professionals for Professionals; Etc.
