Cirkels & houtskool Voor deze reeks is het vertrekpunt een weergave van de energie van de dag. Het begint telkens met het bereiden van een A5-aquarel papier waarop ik eenzelfde cirkel teken. Vervolgens ga ik een stille dialoog aan met mezelf, met het vel voor me. Op het moment dat mijn hand automatisch naar een stuk houtskool reikt, laat ik het de vrije loop. De kleur en dikte van de houtskool kunnen variëren. Dat geldt ook voor de manier waarop ik het aanbreng en waar het op het blad terecht komt. Zolang het maar houtskool is. Daarna probeer ik te voelen wat er op dat vel wil gebeuren. Dat vul ik in met een collage-element (behalve voor de laatste). Daarna neem ik de tijd om de creatie te beschouwen. Er is geen vooraf bepaalde timing voor de duur van de creatie, ook niet voor het starten van een volgende. Nog even iets over het collage-element: als derde element in de compositie -cirkel, houtskool, collageintroduceert het beweging in de compositie. Elk werk heeft iets specifieks; het houdt verband met mijn energie op die dag. Tegelijkertijd is het abstract genoeg zodat iedereen het kan interpreteren op basis van zijn of haar eigen ervaring. Net zoals een koan de geest bezighoudt, zijn deze composities uitnodigingen om het logisch denken te overstijgen. De volgorde waarin ze tot stand kwamen is gerespecteerd. 202509 tot 202604. Circles & charcoal The starting point for this series is capturing the energy of the day. It always begins with preparing a sheet of A5 watercolor paper, on which I draw the same circle every time. Then I enter into a silent dialogue with myself, with the sheet in front of me. The moment my hand automatically reaches for a piece of charcoal, I let it run free. The color and thickness of the charcoal can vary. The same goes for how I apply it and where it lands on the sheet. As long as it’s charcoal. Then I try to sense what wants to happen on that sheet. I fill that in with a collage element (except for the last one). Afterward, I take the time to contemplate the creation. There is no predetermined timeline for the duration of the creation, nor for starting the next one. A quick note about the collage element: as the third element in the composition -circle, charcoal, collageit introduces movement into the composition. Each work has something specific; it relates to my energy on that day. At the same time, it is abstract enough that everyone can interpret it based on their own experience. Just as a koan engages the mind, these compositions are invitations to transcend logical thinking. The order in which they were created is respected. 202509 to 202604.
