Isai Maiyam An introduction Isai Maiyam is an independent NGO entirely powered by private donations and gifts. It is dedicated to supporting the poorest girls and handicapped youngsters in and around the city of Pondicherry, helping them build a brighter future. The organization offers daycare for handicapped children, safe homes for girls, after school tutoring, dance and music classes and financial support for teens pursuing higher education. The name Isai Maiyam means ‘center of music’ in Tamil, and reflects the central role of music in the organization’s mission and activities. This book aims to give an impression of the organization and introduces the people who make Isai Maiyam what it is: from the visionary founder to the kindhearted people that work there and the children who’s lives have been positively affected.
