‘I love my job! Especially working with the children. Everyone at Isai Maiyam feels like family to me’ ~ Ramu Busdriver Ramu (1959) has been working as a bus driver for Isai Maiyam since 2011. He is married, has three children, and four grandchildren. Ramu picks up and drops off children, drives between Pondi and Auroville, and is available for various trips. In his younger years, Ramu worked as an electrician in Auroville. He later moved to Bangalore, where he stayed for ten years before returning to Pondicherry. Through Ganesan, he became involved with Isai Maiyam. In addition to driving the bus, Ramu helps with various maintenance tasks in and around the building. Having a blind daughter himself, he feels a deep connection to people with disabilities and is grateful to serve in this way. 63
