‘Isay Maiyam is like family to me. They introduced me to music and dance which changed my life!’ ~ Satya Danceteacher at the Artschool Satya (1988) is married and has a 7-yearold son. As a young girl, she attended Isai Ambalam School, the village school founded by Ivar. Every Saturday, she went to the Art School to learn music and dance. Due to poverty and challenges at home, she moved into the Isai Maiyam children’s home in Pondicherry at the age of fifteen, where she lived for ten years. Isai Maiyam supported her training as a lab technician, and she worked in a hospital for several years. However, her true passion was music and dance. Recognizing this, Brigitte arranged for her to receive dance training in Auroville. Today, Satya teaches dance at the Art School and other venues. 97
