september 2022 11 Then this year 2022 I saw a post on the internet by a man called Jarich Hiemstra who was going to restore the propeller as it was in a bad condition. I contacted him and he showed me the pictures of its condition and how they were restoring it back to a point where it can be displayed again. Then I was invited to come over in July and be present when it was put back in its place at the church. This was one of the best things that I have ever taken part in. I was made welcome by everyone and was then driven in the convoy in a jeep with the propeller to the churchyard. It was a very moving day. When it was put up, the last post was played. Then there was a short speech by Jarich. I wanted to say some words, but for me it was so emotional that I was struggling not to cry. So this is my chance to say THANK YOU. Thank you to all the people who took part in the ceremony on the day. Thank you to all the people who I met on the day and whose names I can’t remember as there were so many. Thank you to all the people of Mantgum who over the years have looked after the crew in their final resting place. Thank you to the people of Holland for not forgetting these brave young men and continuing to tell their story. Thank you from all the crew’s family members. We will remember them. Many thanks, Neal Nightingale
