SDG FOCUS Santino focuses on four of the seventeen SDGs, namely: SDG 6: CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION For us, it goes without saying that (hot) water comes out of the taps and that we have access to sanitary facilities. However, due to drier and hotter summers, we occasionally encounter water shortages. In the countries where we produce, it is much less obvious that these facilities are well organised. SDG 8: DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH Worldwide, 168 million children are working, 74 million young adults are unemployed, and 60% of workers are employed without a contract. The labour market must change to become fairer, more equal, and safer. SDG 12: RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION Today, we waste 30% of global food production. We produce and consume without taking sufficient account of the impact on the planet’s natural resources. The current situation is unsustainable, which is why we need to “do more with less”. SDG 17: PARTNERSHIPS FOR THE GOALS The SDGs can only be achieved with a strong commitment to international partnerships and cooperation. Although official development assistance from developed countries increased by 66% between 2000 and 2014, humanitarian crises caused by conflicts or natural disasters continue to require financial resources and assistance. Several countries need development aid to stimulate growth and trade. SUSTAINABLE PARTNERSHIPS Finally, Santino invites you to join forces in making the textile chain more sustainable, for example through long-term collaboration. Because for Santino, the earth is just as sustainable as the relationship with all our partners.
