Cumaru Origin: Brazil Cumaru is a very stable and durable type of wood with a beautiful colour and appearance. This type of wood is therefore not only used for its design features, but also for its long lifespan. This South American type of wood has a yellow to reddish brown colour. Despite its weight and toughness, cumaru is easy to work with. After planing, the surface becomes very smooth. Timberlab uses this type of wood as standard for the type PUNTO. In addition, the PUNTO can be supplied with the FSC100% certificate. This guarantees that the wood comes from forests that are managed in a sustainable way. Accoya Origin: New Zealand An interesting type of wood, if durability is at the top of your list. Accoya wood falls into durability class I and is the most durable type of wood in the world. It stays above ground 50 years and in contact with ground-water 25 years and longer in top condition. Accoya has been thoroughly modified, preserved through a natural acidification method. This means that if you saw or profile Accoya wood, you will never expose wood surfaces that have not been preserved. This modification has two important advantages: it guarantees durability in a way that was not possible before. The wood offers consistent quality according to established standards. Oak Origin: France. Our oak comes from France and falls into durability class II under the heading of European hardwood. Oak is strong and hard, yet fairly easy to modify and finish. Under water it must be well protected and preserved (pile work and yacht building). Oak can be used almost everywhere, as construction wood, in shipyards, bridge construction and waterworks and as a lighting fixture. Oak, like sweet chestnut, has a high natural tannic acid content. Metals that come into contact with oak can therefore corrode quickly. Oak wood has its own character with a beautiful ‘flame ingraining’. It can be used untreated and exposed to the elements, it will naturally turn grey over time. Oak wood is supplied freshly cut as standard for our applications in lighting products. 7
