Toi-Toys – toy quality and safety Quality is mainly an organisational issue. Evaluations, inspections and certifications alone are not sufficient to create satisfactory products. However, evaluations, inspections and certifications are (partly for legislative reasons) a vital aspect of toy production. Continuous improvement and development in these areas are part of Toi-Toys’ policy, strategy and ambitions. Laboratory All products must be safe to use. Children are especially vulnerable, so it is vital that toys are safe to play with. The safety of our toys is our number one priority. Toi-Toys’ products meet and exceed the requirements of the European Guideline for toy safety. Toi-Toys has had its own laboratory since 2014. Independent inspection for small components of the EN 71-1 standard is now a standard aspect of Toi-Toys’ ordering and purchasing process. Recently, the laboratory was expanded with an X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (XRF analyser) and an FT-IR spectrometer. The XRF analyser is used for the screening of products in accordance with the RoHS Guideline, the Packaging Materials Guideline and screening for the elements of the EN 71-3 standard. The FT-IR is used to check the composition of plastics and is equipped with a special software module to screen for Phthalates. Toi-Toys works together extensively with external laboratories to conduct other types of tests. Standards committee Toi-Toys is represented in the Dutch Standards Committee for toys in the Dutch Normalisation Institute. Toi-Toys not only actively contributes to the development of standards for toys, but it also stays up to date on the latest developments pertaining to toy standards. This allows the company to choose the best course of action at all times. Responsible entrepreneur Toi-Toys conducts its business with respect for man and environment. The production sites, the raw materials used, the materials, the packaging and the way in which corporate processes are set up are all part of Toi-Toys’ CSR policy. Toi-Toys is a member of the FTA (Foreign Trade Association). The Foreign Trade Association is an association for international trade that promotes the values of free and sustainable trade. It brings hundreds of retailers, importers and other companies together to improve the political and legislative framework for trade. BSCI is an initiative of companies that strive to improve labour conditions in the global supply chain.
