13 Noordpolder van Ossendrecht De Noordpolder is een nat natuurgebied in de Ecologische Hoofdstructuur, de groene ruggengraat van Nederland. Natuurmonumenten en Waterschap de Brabantse Delta werken in de Noordpolder samen om vochtige en bloemrijke graslanden te ontwikkelen. De Brabantse Wal is als steilrand een aardkundig monument. Door de overgangen in de Noordpolder van hoog en laag, droog en nat, zand en klei vind je hier een uniek landschap met bijzondere planten en dieren. In het gebied broeden veel weidevogels en voor libellen en amfibieën zijn poelen aanwezig. Turend over het landschap zie je wellicht een bruine kiekendief jagend op zijn prooi, een ree langs de bosrand of een grazende kolgans. In het voorjaar is het kleurenspel van de dotterbloem, de echte koekoeksbloem en vlinders een lust voor het oog. Wandelen: Als je de blauwe ‘Langs de Brabantse Wal’-route (5 km) loopt, kom je langs de panoramatafel op de Schenkeldijk. Aan de rand van het Koepelbos staat een verrekijker, waarmee je de natuur dichterbij kunt halen. Op deze plek tref je meer informatie aan over de Noordpolder en heb je een schitterend uitzicht over het natuurgebied. 13 Ossendrechts’ Noordpolder Ossendrechts’ Noordpolder is a wet conservation area which belongs to the National Ecological Network, the ‘green spine’ of the Netherlands. Natuurmonumenten and the district water board Brabantse Delta cooperate in the Noordpolder to develop wet and florid meadows. The Brabantse Wal is a steep sandy ridge and a geological monument. Because the Noordpolder has a lot of transitions, from high to low, dry to wet and sand to clay, the scenery is unique and features special plants and animals. The area is a breeding ground for meadow birds, and puddles are available for dragon flies and amphibians. Gazing out on the scenery, you may see a marsh harrier hunt its pray, a roe along the fringe of the wood or a grazing white-fronted goose. In spring, the colours of the marsh-marigold, the ragged robin and the butterflies are a sight for sore eyes. Hiking: If you follow the blue trail ‘Along the Brabantse Wal’ (5 km), you will pass the panoramic table on the Schenkeldijk. On the fringe of the Koepelbos you will find a telescope, to zoom in on the countryside.
